The World Lifestyle
“For those who want to bring the world into their home”
Globetrotters feel at home in a WORLD LIFE interior, whether they actually go on all those foreign trips or just do it in their dreams or thoughts. Lively colours like orange, purple and red alternate with saffron yellow, ochre and jade green.
A WORLD LIFE interior is a cross-pollination of various cultures in which Africa and the Far East are never far away. A Buddha statue or a Berber carpet, Zulu masks or elephants on silk. Anything goes and there are no musts. Woven furniture in colonial style is combined with occasional tables in dark tropical wood. Plaids or cushions with animal skin prints, colourful glasswork and oriental lighting with filigree silver housing often provide an extra exotic touch. Chintz and damask add shiny luxury to an interior as well as silk.
Despite the great variety of styles, materials and colours all the elements in a WORLD LIFE interior are perfectly in tune: “unity through diversity”.
"Being on the move, travelling the world, discovering new countries … For me, as a photographer, that is essential. Travelling revives my inspiration, over and over again.
What attracts me most is finding new places and pushing my
boundaries. I’m always on a quest for undiscovered places;
I want to record them from a new perspective. The cultures,
people and landscapes are diverse, but I always follow my
own style. When it comes to colour, I look for either contrast or
harmony. That’s something I try to capture in my photography
but also in my home. My studio is full of souvenirs that remind
me of my adventures."
